In 1953, Dr. Janet Travell of New York purchased a rocking chair. One of his patients, John F. Kennedy Jr, then a senator from Massachusetts, suffered from chronic back problems; she orders him to swim and rocking chair.

This senator has become one of america’s most famous presidents. Once president, John F. Kennedy Jr. installs rocking chairs at the White House, in the various presidential residences and even on air Force One! Convinced of the therapeutic benefits for the back of the rocking chair, especially for chronic lower back pain, John F. Kennedy Jr. will even offer it to friends.

Dr. Barry L. Marks, D.C., founder of the Orange Spine – Disc Rehabilitation Center in California, recommends the following exercises on a rocking chair for lower back pain. To treat lower back pain caused by a herniated disc or bulging disc, or for chronic low back pain due to degeneration, you can try these exercises with a rocking chair, with the consent of your treating physician.

Basic exercise:

Sit with both feet flat on the floor or floor.
Gently swing back and forth by pushing with your legs (don't use your back).
Continue swinging this way for 5 minutes, then move on to the next exercise.

On tiptoe:

Sit only by placing your toes on the floor or floor.
Gently swing back and forth by pushing with your toes (don't use your back).
Continue swinging this way for 5 minutes, then move on to the next exercise.

Heel:

Sit with both heels on the floor or floor.
Gently swing back and forth by pushing with your heels (don't use your back).
Continue swinging this way for 5 minutes, then move on to the next exercise.

Use a rocking chair as one of the many back pain remedies that make up a wider back pain relief program.
